What to Expect
The same thorough care — in your own surroundings.
We bring portable professional equipment and over 200 frames to choose from. Your eye test follows the same thorough standards as our practice, tailored entirely to your individual needs and circumstances.
If you have a carer or family member who would like to be present, they are always welcome to join us.
Frame Prices
We offer frames at various price points to suit all budgets. Depending on your NHS entitlement, you may receive glasses free of charge or at a significantly reduced cost.
NHS patients with a voucher typically pay nothing, or only a small top-up depending on the frame chosen. We will explain all costs clearly before any decision is made.
Understanding Your Prescription
Sphere
Shows whether you are long-sighted (+) or short-sighted (−). The higher the number, the stronger the lens required.
Cylinder
Indicates astigmatism — how oval-shaped your eye is. If this field is blank, your eye is perfectly round.
Addition
An additional reading strength, usually needed from age 40 onwards. Used for reading glasses, bifocals, or varifocal lenses.
Prism
Helps your eyes work together if one tends to pull in a particular direction. Not required for most people.
Looking After Your Glasses
Use both hands when removing your glasses to keep them aligned and straight
Always store your glasses in a case when not wearing them
Remove your glasses before using hairspray, perfume, or any aerosol products
Clean lenses with a microfibre cloth — avoid paper towels or clothing
For a deeper clean, use a little hand soap and lukewarm water, then dry with a soft cloth
